Microsoft BUILD 2011 is the first BUILD event from Microsoft, held from September 13 to September 16, 2011 in Anaheim, Califonia. BUILD serves as a successor for Microsoft’s previous developer events, the Professional Developers Conference (an infrequent event which covered development of software for the Windows operating system) and MIX (which covered web development centering on Microsoft technology such as Silverlight and ASP.net).
BUILD2011 was the debut of ‘Windows 8’ Developer Preview – 11 months before the final public release of Windows 8. The conference heavily focused on Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 and Visual Studio 2012. Their Developer Preview versions were released during the conference. All BUILD2011 attendees also luckily received a Samsung tablet shipped with the Windows 8 ‘Developer Preview’ build.
This is a photo of the Windows 8 Developer Preview home screen. If you look at it closely, you will discover that the Microsoft stock was $25.89 during BUILD2011. Today, the Microsoft stock has grown to $65. You would have made a great fortune if you saw the future of Microsoft in 2011.
